New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded citizens for responding positively to his appeal made in the wake of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, saying people across the country have displayed a strong sense of responsibility by changing their daily habits to support national interests.

Speaking during the 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said he had earlier urged people to avoid purchasing gold for the time being and adopt measures to reduce unnecessary expenses. He expressed gratitude to citizens, noting that the response had gone beyond expectations.

According to the Prime Minister, families from different parts of the country have shared messages describing how they have adjusted their plans in recent weeks. Several households have chosen to postpone gold purchases, while many have decided to reuse old jewellery for upcoming weddings instead of buying new ornaments.

Modi said the spirit of cooperation was also visible in everyday commuting. Referring to the growing trend of carpooling, he noted that people travelling in the same direction had voluntarily started sharing vehicles, reducing fuel consumption and demonstrating collective responsibility during a challenging period.

The Prime Minister also revealed that many citizens had informed him about postponing foreign travel plans. He described these decisions as examples of how ordinary Indians are contributing through small but meaningful steps during a time of global uncertainty.

Emphasising the importance of public participation, Modi said such voluntary efforts reflect the country’s unity and maturity. He remarked that every small contribution made by citizens strengthens the nation’s resilience and showcases the collective resolve of the people in difficult times.

The Prime Minister concluded by thanking the public for extending wholehearted support to his appeal, saying the country’s strength lies in the willingness of its people to stand together whenever the nation faces extraordinary circumstances.
