Chandigarh: Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources and Women and Child Development Minister, Shruti Choudhry on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 26 irrigation, drainage and flood protection projects worth around Rs 52 crore in Rohtak district.
Shruti Choudhry said the state government is giving special attention to strengthening drainage systems in areas prone to waterlogging and flooding during rains. The projects will facilitate faster drainage from low-lying areas, provide relief to villages and residential areas from waterlogging and improve the efficiency of canals and drainage systems.
She also inaugurated four pumping works worth around Rs 3.12 crore under the Rohtak Water Services Mechanical Division to strengthen pump, motor and panel infrastructure in Pakasma, Sampla-Chuliana, Bhalouth, Kiloi, Asan, Dhamar and Kharawar areas.
Shruti Choudhry also inaugurated five pumping works worth Rs 6.30 crore for flood protection in the Meham area. These include installation of new pumps and strengthening of existing pumping arrangements at Seman, Bhaini Surjan, Bahlba and Bhaini Bhairo. The Bhaini Bhairo project alone has an expenditure of Rs 2.40 crore.
