Chandigarh: Haryana Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar said that Haryana has emerged as the first state in the country where the maximum number of crops are being procured from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
During the inspection of the Saraswati Nagar Grain Market and subsequently the Jagadhri Grain Market in Yamunanagar, the Minister reviewed arrangements for paddy procurement and interacted with farmers and commission agents to take stock of crop lifting, packaging availability and other issues.
Rajesh Nagar directed officers to ensure that farmers face no difficulty in selling their crops and that procurement and lifting operations are completed expeditiously. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials or employees found negligent in paddy procurement-related duties.
During the inspection, Rajesh Nagar personally checked the moisture content of paddy heaps using a moisture-testing machine and interacted with farmers and commission agents to hear their concerns. He also sought feedback from officials on arrivals, procurement, lifting, gate passes and transportation.
