Chandigarh: The Swarn Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management (SJHIFM) and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to strengthen academic research, policy studies and evidence-based policy making in Haryana.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini during the inaugural session of the national conference organised to strengthen ‘Haryana’s Own Tax Revenue System’.
The MoU was exchanged by Dr. Raj Nehru on behalf of SJHIFM and Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva on behalf of the university. The primary objective of the MoU is to establish SJHIFM as an Extramural Research Centre of Kurukshetra University, where doctoral research can be undertaken in areas including fiscal management, public policy, budgeting aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), data-driven governance and other related interdisciplinary fields.
Under the MoU, eligible SJHIFM researchers and faculty members may also be considered for recognition as PhD supervisors through the prescribed academic process of Kurukshetra University. Registered research scholars will be able to access the relevant research facilities, datasets and knowledge resources of both institutions, subject to the required permissions and confidentiality provisions.
