CHANDIGARH: Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday presented the report card of his recent Netherlands and Finland visit, stating that the Punjab government has secured major global partnerships in agriculture, industry, innovation, and education. He said the tour has opened new avenues for crop diversification, foreign investment, and technology exchange, with a ₹1300 crore JICA-backed investment expected to strengthen horticulture and modern farming in Punjab. During the visit to Keukenhof and the World Horticulture Center, discussions were held on floriculture, export-quality crop production, and adopting advanced techniques like vertical farming.

The Chief Minister said the government also held investment roadshows and meetings with global companies to attract investments in semiconductors, electronics, and innovation sectors. NXP Semiconductors showed interest in setting up an R&D centre in Mohali, while LT Foods, known for its Dawat Rice brand, agreed to invest in Punjab, likely in Rajpura. Mann said these developments will create employment opportunities for youth and strengthen Punjab’s economy by integrating it into global supply chains.

During the Finland leg of the visit, Mann focused on education reforms, teacher training, and startup collaboration. The delegation studied Finland’s modern education system and explored partnerships in teacher capacity building and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECCE). Mann said Punjab has already sent 216 primary teachers to Finland for training and more batches are planned. He expressed confidence that the visit will position Punjab as a global hub for innovation, research, and high-value farming while boosting the state’s image as an investor-friendly destination.
