Jalandhar/Amritsar: Security agencies in Punjab have launched an extensive investigation after two late-night explosions were reported near sensitive locations in Jalandhar and Amritsar on Tuesday. No casualties have been reported in either incident so far.

The first explosion occurred near a security installation in Jalandhar close to PAP Chowk in the evening, followed by another blast hours later near the cantonment area in Amritsar. Preliminary inputs suggest the possible use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), though officials have stated that confirmation will depend on forensic analysis.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the Jalandhar site, where a person was reportedly seen leaving a suspicious packet near a parked two-wheeler moments before the blast. Authorities suspect the involvement of more than one individual and are tracing possible escape routes.

In a parallel development, a social media post attributed to a group calling itself the Khalistan Liberation Army surfaced after the incident, claiming responsibility and issuing threats. However, police have not authenticated the claim and have urged caution against circulating unverified content.

The scooter found at the Jalandhar site has been linked to a local resident, and a delivery worker associated with the vehicle is being questioned as part of routine investigation procedures. Officials clarified that questioning does not imply involvement and is part of standard protocol.

Following the incidents, high alert has been sounded across key installations, with additional deployment of security personnel and bomb disposal teams. Senior officers from the police and central agencies have visited both locations to assess the situation.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to review the situation, while authorities have reiterated that there is no need for panic. They emphasised that the situation remains under control and that all leads are being thoroughly examined.

Officials also warned against spreading unverified claims, noting that any information regarding responsibility or motives will only be confirmed after detailed investigation.
