Amritsar: Amritsar Rural Police, working with central intelligence agencies, have claimed to have busted two alleged terror modules linked to cross-border handlers and solved a May 2026 improvised explosive device (IED) blast near an Army camp in Punjab.

According to Border Range Inspector General of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the operations led to arrests in the Army camp blast case and a separate alleged ISI-backed module. Police also recovered a 9 mm Glock pistol and an ARGES hand grenade in the second operation.

Investigators are probing the alleged links to handlers based abroad and the possible targets of the network.

Who Are The Accused Arrested In The Army Camp IED Blast Case?

Police identified the accused as Ramandeep, Judgepreet and Arshdeep, alias Kekra, all residents of the Attari area.

Bhullar said the case related to an IED explosion reported near the boundary wall of an Army installation in May 2026. The investigation had remained unresolved before Amritsar Rural Police took up the case.

According to the police account, preliminary questioning indicated that Ramandeep and Judgepreet had received an IED consignment from across the India-Pakistan border. The explosive material was allegedly passed to Arshdeep and his associates on instructions from handlers based abroad.

Police alleged that Arshdeep travelled by motorcycle to place the explosive at a designated location and triggered the blast remotely using a mobile phone from a safe distance. Investigators also said the accused had recorded the incident.

These allegations form part of the ongoing investigation; the accused have not been convicted.

What Was Recovered In The Alleged ISI-Backed Moga Module?

In a separate joint operation with central agencies, police claimed to have dismantled another alleged ISI-backed module connected to Moga district.

The accused were identified as Navdeep, Samuel, alias Samu, and Sandeep, alias Tiddi. Bhullar also announced the detention of a fourth suspect, Harman, a resident of Daulatpur village in Moga.

Police said they recovered a 9 mm Glock pistol and an ARGES-manufactured hand grenade during the operation. Investigators are examining the alleged network’s connections and the intended use of the recovered weapons and explosives.

How Were The Accused Allegedly Recruited By Foreign Handlers?

According to Bhullar, the suspects were daily-wage workers who were allegedly contacted and directed through social media, particularly WhatsApp.

Police said handlers based in Pakistan and elsewhere had allegedly offered them money in return for carrying out assignments. Investigators claimed the suspects had been promised payments into their bank accounts but had not received any money.

The police are investigating the alleged communication channels, financial promises and links between the accused and handlers based abroad.

What Were The Alleged Targets Of The Module?

Bhullar said the network was believed to be active in the outskirts of Amritsar and was allegedly planning to target sensitive locations, including government establishments.

He said the arrests and recovery of the hand grenade and firearm had helped prevent a potentially serious incident. Police are continuing to investigate the alleged conspiracy and identify other people who may have been involved.

What Happens Next In The Punjab Terror Module Probe?

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the network’s wider links and identify any additional suspects.

The investigation covers the May IED blast near the Army installation as well as the separate alleged ISI-backed module. Authorities are expected to examine evidence, including communications and the alleged movement of explosives, to establish the extent of the conspiracy.

The claims about cross-border handlers, recruitment and intended targets are based on the police briefing. The investigation is ongoing.
