AMRITSAR — In a major coordinated crackdown targeting illicit narcotics syndicates and weapon trafficking channels, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted five suspected smuggling rings and arrested ten operatives. The multi-point operation yielded extensive contraband, including 4.409 kilograms of heroin, 500 grams of opium, six pistols, 12 rounds of live ammunition, 12.90 lakh rupees in suspected drug proceeds, and an unmanned aerial drone used in transport logistics.
Law enforcement authorities lodged five First Information Reports across distinct jurisdictional stations following the arrests. Preliminary questioning revealed that the suspects functioned within structured supply routes tasked with receiving, storing, and distributing narcotics consignments alongside unlicensed weapons across regional hubs.
Investigating teams have initiated detailed financial and technical mapping to identify upstream suppliers, procurement networks, and recipient channels linked to the seized consignments. Special task units are tracking backward and forward operational links, focusing on cross-border drop points and local delivery couriers connected to the confiscated drone equipment.
Senior officials affirmed that the coordinated bust is part of a broader ongoing enforcement drive by Punjab Police to cut off illegal weapons flow and eliminate organized drug trafficking modules across sensitive border belts, reiterating an intensified clampdown to preserve public order and safety.
