New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari concluded his inaugural official diplomatic visit to New Delhi on Friday after assuming the state’s top executive office. During his high-profile visit, Adhikari held separate high-level meetings with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliberate on a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s economic revival, industrial growth, and governance infrastructure. The meetings mark a critical post-election alignment between the newly formed state administration and the central government.
Following an extensive discussion with Prime Minister Modi, Adhikari described the interaction as a profound privilege on the social media platform X. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for assuring unwavering central assistance to accelerate development projects across West Bengal. According to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister re-emphasized the central governance philosophy of comprehensive growth and guaranteed full strategic and fiscal support to drive youth empowerment and reverse industrial stagnation in the eastern state. Adhikari asserted that his administration remains dedicated to executing a collaborative growth model to ensure transparent governance and holistic regional advancement.
The Chief Minister’s capital itinerary also included crucial strategic consultations with senior union cabinet ministers. Adhikari called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to address regional security, border management, and structural administrative reforms. After the meeting with the Home Minister, Adhikari extended appreciation for the trust placed in the new state leadership, affirming that close cooperation with federal departments would be instrumental in building a highly developed and economically stable Bengal.
The visit concluded with a political meeting with BJP National President Nitin Nabin, where Adhikari formally offered congratulations on the party’s decisive electoral breakthrough in the West Bengal legislative polls. The leaders reaffirmed their long-term organizational commitment to strengthening grassroots machinery and systematically addressing the socio-economic aspirations of the state’s populace. In an unusual and unrelated demonstration elsewhere, local administrative challenges drew attention in Uttar Pradesh, where a resident staged a protest against severe Yamuna river pollution by arriving at a civic office in Mathura dressed in a cockroach costume, highlighting ongoing civic and environmental grievances in that region.
