H Rajesh Prasad Takes Charge as Chandigarh’s New Chief Secretary

Chandigarh: Senior IAS officer H Rajesh Prasad formally assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Chandigarh today, taking over from Rajeev Verma, who recently completed his tenure.

A 1995-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, Prasad was given a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the Chandigarh Secretariat. On his first day in office, he met with senior officials and outlined his vision for a more efficient and transparent city administration.

Widely respected for his dynamic leadership and administrative expertise, Prasad has held key posts across Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, and Arunachal Pradesh. Throughout his career, he has played a significant role in governance reforms, public administration, and the development of infrastructure and power sectors.

An alumnus with degrees in law and management, Prasad reaffirmed his focus on good governance, efficiency, and citizen-centric service delivery, pledging to make Chandigarh a model of transparent administration.
