New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday visited Max Hospital in Saket to personally monitor the medical treatment of individuals injured in a catastrophic fire that ripped through a building in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. The blaze, which erupted on Wednesday, triggered a massive rescue operation by local police, firefighters, and disaster response teams, resulting in multiple fatalities and serious injuries. During her visit, the Chief Minister interacted with survivors and their families, reviewed the healthcare arrangements with attending doctors, and promised that the state administration will bear the entire cost of medical treatment.

Expressing deep solidarity with the victims, the Chief Minister directed senior administrative officials to ensure that all necessary assistance is expedited without any procedural delays. Following her high-level review, the Chief Minister’s Office released a comprehensive financial relief package for those affected by the tragedy. The Delhi government has announced an ex-gratia compensation of 10 lakh rupees for the next of kin of each deceased person, while individuals who sustained severe injuries will receive 5 lakh rupees to support their recovery.

The local administration is also coordinating logistical arrangements to help grieving families transport the bodies of the deceased back to their respective native places. Meanwhile, the specialized investigation teams have accelerated their inquiry into the origin of the inferno. Authorities are closely inspecting the structural framework of the ill-fated building to determine whether appropriate fire safety norms and regulatory clearances were bypassed, promising strict action against anyone found guilty of operational negligence.
