New Delhi — A tragic incident struck the Nizamuddin area of the capital on Friday evening when a section of the roof of the Patte Shah Dargah collapsed, killing five people. The shrine, dedicated to a Muslim saint, stands inside a 16th-century complex of religious monuments and gardens that also houses the tomb of Mughal emperor Humayun.
Visuals from the site revealed a modest lime-green structure built around an open courtyard, with a large portion of the roof reduced to debris. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and carried out emergency operations late into the evening as locals gathered in shock.
Delhi Chief Minister expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and assured that the government will provide full support to the victims’ families. Authorities are also conducting an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the collapse and ensure the safety of the remaining structure.
