New Delhi: A late-night encounter between the Delhi Police Crime Branch and an alleged criminal ended with the arrest of a man from Meerut following an exchange of several rounds of gunfire, police said.
According to the Delhi Police, the incident took place during an operation in which the Crime Branch team confronted the accused. Shots were fired from both sides before officers managed to apprehend him.
Police said the accused was not injured in the encounter. No police officer or other individual was reported to have suffered injuries during the exchange.
Meerut Resident Held After Exchange of Fire
The arrested man is a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and is allegedly linked to multiple criminal cases, according to the police.
Investigators are examining his suspected involvement in a number of serious offences, including a firing incident reported in Chhawla in Delhi.
