Chandigarh: Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry informed the House that irrigation water supply through canals in the Adampur and Nalwa Assembly constituencies has been ensured as per the prescribed rotation schedule during the last two years.
Choudhry was responding to a question raised by a Member during the proceedings of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today. The Irrigation Minister stated that around 48 canals/channels fall in the Adampur and Nalwa Assembly constituencies.
She informed that 17 channels in the Nalwa area and four channels shared by both Assembly constituencies are being operated as per the approved rotation schedule, under which they run for eight days followed by a 16-day canal closure period.
She clarified that the Government is making every effort to ensure the prescribed supply of irrigation water up to the tail ends of the canals through the approved rotation schedule, keeping in view the availability of water resources.
