Montgomery (Alabama): A weekend shooting in downtown Montgomery left two people dead, including a woman, and at least 14 others injured, police confirmed on Sunday. Among the injured, two are juveniles, and three victims remain in critical condition.

Montgomery Police Lt. Tina McGriff said one of the injured has potentially fatal wounds, while nine others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys.

“This was two parties involved that were basically shooting at each other in the middle of a crowd,” Chief Graboys told reporters, adding that the suspects “did not care about the people around them when they did it.”

Investigators are questioning possible suspects, though no arrests have been made so far. Police said they are analyzing surveillance footage and reviewing witness statements to identify those responsible.

Lt. McGriff urged the public to assist in the investigation. “We are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward. Even the smallest detail could be critical to helping investigators identify those responsible,” she said.

Authorities have increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues.
