NEW DELHI — Indian streaming platform JioHotstar has officially commenced its global expansion, launching its redesigned over-the-top streaming service across the United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore. The international rollout replaces the legacy Hotstar application with a completely overhauled platform that mirrors the technology architecture, interface, and unified content library of JioHotstar’s domestic Indian service.
The international library features more than 160,000 hours of programming spanning over a dozen Asian languages, supported by algorithmic personalization, interactive engagement tools, and flexible subscription tiers. Alongside regional catalogues, the platform is introducing a dedicated lineup of fresh original productions, including titles such as Ali Baba Aur Chaalis Bhoot, Prince of Mollywood, Part Timers, and The Court, as well as high-profile direct-to-digital film releases scheduled throughout the calendar year.
A core component of the global launch focuses on viewer interaction, prominently integrated into major non-fiction properties like the reality franchise Bigg Boss, which spans six linguistic versions. Subscribers in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore will now be able to participate directly in live voting during broadcasts. In addition, audiences in Canada and the United Kingdom will gain uninterrupted access to a dedicated round-the-clock live stream, while Canadian viewers will receive early-access streaming for Bigg Boss Hindi seven days prior to its traditional television airing. Major cricket properties, including the Indian Premier League, will not be included in the initial international entertainment package.
