Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that eligible women in Punjab will start receiving financial assistance under the party’s women-centric welfare scheme from July 1.
Making the announcement through a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal extended congratulations to the mothers, sisters and daughters of Punjab and said the first installment would cover payments for three months.
According to the announcement, women belonging to the general category will receive ₹3,000 in the initial installment, while women from Scheduled Caste (SC) families will receive ₹4,500. The payment is expected to be credited directly to beneficiaries as part of the scheme’s rollout.
Kejriwal also clarified that if more than one eligible woman resides in a household, each eligible beneficiary will receive the honorarium separately.
Describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening women’s financial independence, the AAP leader said the programme would contribute significantly to women’s empowerment across the state.
He further claimed that the scheme would be the largest women-focused financial assistance programme of its kind anywhere in the world.
The announcement comes as the Punjab government continues to roll out welfare measures aimed at supporting women and economically vulnerable sections of society.
