Ferozepur: In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the Ferozepur district police have dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling network following a precise intelligence-based operation. One individual, a resident of Village Chandiwala under Police Station Sadar Ferozepur, has been arrested in connection with the case.
During the operation, police recovered 5.507 kilograms of heroin from the accused, dealing a major blow to the illegal drug trade operating in the region. Officials said the seizure points to a well-organised smuggling module with international links.
Initial findings indicate that the arrested suspect was in contact with drug smugglers based in Pakistan, suggesting the involvement of cross-border handlers. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigation teams are actively tracing both the supply chain and the distribution network linked to the accused.
Senior police officials stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the racket, including financiers, couriers and local facilitators.
Reiterating its strong stance, Punjab Police reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against drugs, emphasizing its continued commitment to dismantling narcotics networks and ensuring a safe, secure and drug-free Punjab.
