Delhi: A bomb threat targeting Delhi’s iconic Red Fort triggered a swift security response after Mumbai Police received an alarming call claiming that the historic monument would be blown up. The threat, however, was later found to be false following a detailed investigation.
According to police officials, the Mumbai Police Control Room received the threatening call and immediately relayed the information to the Delhi Police Control Room as part of established emergency coordination procedures.
Following the alert, the matter was assigned to the North District Police in the national capital, which launched an immediate verification exercise. Security personnel carried out necessary checks and assessed the credibility of the threat.
After examining the information and conducting inquiries, police concluded that the warning was a hoax and that no explosives or suspicious activity had been detected at or around the Red Fort.
Despite the false alarm, authorities followed standard security protocols to ensure public safety. Officials said every threat received through emergency channels is treated with utmost seriousness until it is thoroughly verified.
The incident also highlighted the close coordination between police agencies in different states, allowing information to be shared quickly and acted upon without delay.
Police have begun efforts to trace the individual responsible for making the false call. Officials warned that issuing fake bomb threats is a serious criminal offence that can lead to strict legal action, besides diverting emergency resources from genuine situations.
Authorities have urged citizens to use emergency helplines responsibly and avoid spreading rumours or misinformation that could create unnecessary panic.
