Baruipur: A wave of shock and intense public outrage gripped the Baruipur area in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Sunday morning after the body of an 11-year-old girl, who had gone missing a day earlier, was found stuffed inside a sack. The grim discovery triggered immediate, widespread protests by local residents, who blocked the major Baruipur-Joynagar Road, burning tyres and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the heinous crime.
According to police officials, the young victim had left her home on Saturday afternoon to purchase a birthday gift for a close friend but failed to return by evening. Growing increasingly anxious, her family initiated a frantic search and subsequently alleged that four individuals had forcibly intercepted and abducted the minor girl shortly after she stepped out of her residence. The body was eventually spotted by locals in the Surjyapur Haat locality early Sunday morning, packed tightly into a gunny bag.
Senior law enforcement officials quickly rushed to the protest site to manage the deteriorating law and order situation, successfully convincing the agitators to lift the road blockade after guaranteeing a swift, impartial investigation and stringent legal penalties for the perpetrators. The police have sent the victim’s body to a state hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death and legally verify the allegations of sexual assault. Investigators confirmed that one suspect has already been detained and is undergoing intense interrogation as part of the active search for all individuals linked to the tragedy.
