CHANDIGARH — The Punjab government has adopted a stern stance against widespread employee participation in the mass strike on August 27, ordering the issuance of show-cause notices to all personnel who remained absent from their official duties without authorization.
The administration has instructed all concerned departments to identify personnel who participated in the statewide work stoppage without prior approval or sanctioned leave. The mass demonstration, which saw a large number of government employees across administrative and public service departments stay away from work to press for pending service demands, had disrupted routine administrative functioning across the state.
Departmental heads and administrative secretaries have been directed to initiate formal disciplinary proceedings and compile records of unauthorized absences. Officials stated that subsequent disciplinary and administrative actions against the staff will be determined based on their formal responses to the show-cause notices.
