Ghaziabad: An explosion at a police outpost in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad damaged window panes and left a delivery worker injured, prompting an investigation by the police and forensic teams.
The incident took place at around 9 pm on November 6 at the Vasundhara Police Outpost, which falls under the jurisdiction of Indirapuram police station. Speaking to ANI over the phone, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rijul Kumar said two windowpanes were shattered and a crack also appeared following the blast.
Police personnel were inside the outpost when the incident occurred, but none of them suffered injuries. A delivery worker, however, was hit on the head by a piece of broken glass and taken to a hospital. The officer said the man had recovered completely.
A Bomb Squad and forensic experts examined the location and collected samples, which have been sent for further testing. Police also deployed a dog squad to inspect the area.
The DCP said no evidence of gunpowder, explosives or any similar material was detected during the initial examination, including the dog squad’s inspection.
Police are also looking into a social media post attributed to a group calling itself Tehreek-e-Mujahideen, which reportedly claimed responsibility for the incident. Kumar said the authenticity of the claim and all other aspects of the case remain under investigation.
