Surrey: A year-long investigation into shootings at a Surrey cafe owned by comedian Kapil Sharma has led to the arrest of two men, with Canadian authorities linking the accused to another gunfire incident in the city.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan, both aged 22, were arrested on November 1. The two have been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with separate shootings reported in October 2025.
The cafe came under fire on October 16, 2025, when police received information about gunshots in the 8400-block of 120 Street. Although the restaurant was not open to customers at the time, two employees were present inside. Neither was injured.
Investigators are also probing a shooting that took place four days earlier, on October 12, at a residential property in Surrey. A woman was wounded in that incident. Each of the arrested men faces one firearm-related count for each of the two cases.
The BC Extortion Task Force took over the investigations after police identified possible links between the attacks. The RCMP said the case involved extensive evidence-gathering, court-authorised investigative measures and searches carried out over the past 12 months.
Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, who serves as Lower Mainland District Operations Officer and Assistant District Commander, said the arrests demonstrate the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies to address violence associated with extortion.
He also warned those involved in such activities that police agencies were working together to prevent further violence and safeguard communities.
The October 16 incident was the third reported shooting at Sharma’s restaurant since its opening in July 2025. Police have now filed charges against the two suspects in relation to the cafe attack as well as the separate residential shooting.
