NEW DELHI: In a significant update in the investigation of the November 10 Red Fort car explosion, Delhi Police confirmed on Sunday that three 9 mm cartridges — two live rounds and one spent — were recovered from the site. Authorities noted that this type of ammunition is restricted for civilian use and typically limited to armed forces personnel or those with special clearance.
A senior police official said that despite the recovery of the cartridges, no pistol or firearm components were found at the blast location. “We are now trying to ascertain how these cartridges ended up at the site and whether the suspect had possession of a firearm,” the official added.
The discovery of the cartridges introduces a new angle to the ongoing investigation, as officials work to determine if the ammunition is connected to a broader terror or criminal network. Forensic teams continue to analyze evidence from the blast scene, while CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to trace any suspicious movements.
The car blast near the Red Fort, one of Delhi’s most densely populated historic areas, claimed 12 lives and injured several others. Following the explosion, the Delhi Police filed a fresh FIR under sections related to criminal conspiracy, intensifying the probe into the incident.
Security in and around the Red Fort has been tightened, with authorities maintaining high alert at entry points and surrounding streets to prevent any further incidents.
In a related development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has revoked the registration of four doctors from Jammu and Kashmir — Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, and Dr Shaheen Saeed — in the Indian Medical Register and National Medical Register, effective November 14, 2025. All State Medical Councils have been notified of the order.
Of the four, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, and Dr Shaheen Saeed have already been arrested in connection with the Red Fort blast due to their alleged links to prior terror-related activities. Investigators are now scrutinizing their digital and financial records to establish possible networks and sources of the recovered ammunition.
The presence of 9 mm cartridges without an accompanying weapon has added a fresh puzzle to the probe, with police emphasizing that all leads are being actively pursued to uncover the full extent of the plot behind the deadly blast.
