Chandigarh: The Haryana government has declared a three-day holiday for all government schools, coinciding with Karva Chauth, Sunday, and Valmiki Jayanti, giving students and teachers an extended break.

Karva Chauth, an important festival for Hindu women, is observed with a day-long fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands, symbolizing marital love and devotion.

According to the state government notification, schools will remain closed on Friday for Karva Chauth, followed by the regular second Saturday holiday and Sunday. Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday.

Haryana’s official school calendar also includes local holidays such as Good Friday, Buddha Purnima, Karva Chauth, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day, along with other public and optional holidays, allowing students time to participate in cultural and religious observances.
