CHANDIGARH — Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday during an official oath-taking ceremony held in the city. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office to the newly designated Chief Justice in the presence of distinguished members of the judiciary and state administration.
The formal proceedings unfolded amid noticeable political dynamics, as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was absent from the swearing-in ceremony. In contrast, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the event in person alongside several other dignitaries, marking the official commencement of Justice Mishra’s tenure leading the joint high court.
