NUH — A 27-year-old alleged cattle smuggler was killed early Thursday morning during an exchange of fire with the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Nuh Police near Silani Morh on the Sohna-Palwal highway.
According to police reports, the confrontation occurred around 4:00 a.m. after CIA personnel received specific intelligence regarding illicit cattle transport. Law enforcement intercepted a Mahindra Thar (registration number HR 51 BR 6483) carrying two cows. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Silani Morh, the occupants opened fire, sparking a retaliatory shootout.
The deceased suspect has been identified as Shahid, alias Advani, a resident of Kharkhari village in Nuh who faced over 40 criminal charges across various jurisdictions. After sustaining fatal gunshot wounds during the encounter, he was transported to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was subsequently transferred to the civil hospital in Sohna for an autopsy. Two accompanying suspects took advantage of the pre-dawn darkness to flee the scene.
Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams and crime scene investigators secured the area to gather ballistic and circumstantial evidence, while a veterinary officer was called to examine the condition of the rescued animals. Police have impounded the vehicle and are reviewing surrounding CCTV networks alongside conducting targeted raids to track down the two absconding suspects.
