Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a major reshuffle of its organisational responsibilities ahead of the 2027 Assembly election cycle, naming new state in-charges and co-in-charges across several states and Union Territories.
Former Union minister and BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani has been appointed the party’s in-charge for Haryana, with Bhola Singh named as co-in-charge. Irani has also been given responsibility for Chhattisgarh, where Siddharth Shambhu will serve as co-in-charge.
For Punjab, the party has assigned responsibility to national general secretary Satish Poonia. Virendra Sachdeva and Alka Gurjar have been named co-in-charges for the state.
BJP Announces New In-Charges For Haryana, Punjab And Other States
The organisational changes come ahead of Assembly elections due in several states in 2027. The party has also appointed Shrikant Sharma as its in-charge for Himachal Pradesh, while Mahendra Pandey has been given charge of Chandigarh.
In Maharashtra, Rajya Sabha MP Baijayant Panda has been appointed in-charge, with Amit Malviya and Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat serving as co-in-charges.
Senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh has been assigned Gujarat, while Biplab Deb has been given responsibility for Madhya Pradesh. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has been appointed Delhi in-charge, with former Ladakh MP Jamyang Namgyal as co-in-charge.
BJP’s State-Level Organisation Gets New Responsibilities
The reshuffle covers state and Union Territory units across the country, with the party assigning dedicated in-charges and co-in-charges for organisational work.
For states heading towards Assembly elections, the new appointments include Satish Poonia for Punjab, Vinod Tawde for Uttar Pradesh, Bharti Pawar for Goa, Rajdeep Roy for Manipur, Shrikant Sharma for Himachal Pradesh and Tarun Chugh for Gujarat.
The appointments were announced by BJP president Nitin Nabin as part of the party’s latest organisational restructuring.

The BJP’s latest appointments come as the party prepares its organisational structure for the next Assembly election cycle. Several of the states receiving new in-charges are scheduled to go to the polls in 2027.
The changes place senior national leaders in charge of state-level organisational affairs, with co-in-charges assigned to assist them in their respective responsibilities.
