Cockroach Janta Party to Function as Pressure Group Rather Than Political Party, Says Founder Abhijeet Dipke

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party will operate strictly as a pressure group to address public grievances and institutional reforms rather than converting into an electoral political party, founder Abhijeet Dipke confirmed on Wednesday. Speaking to media representatives ahead of the youth movement’s core team strategy meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, Dipke stated that what India urgently requires at this juncture is an active pressure mechanism to hold authority accountable. He noted that the two-day deliberations would focus heavily on addressing the dwindling public trust in foundational democratic institutions, including mainstream media and the judiciary, while also taking up pressing socio-economic concerns such as the mandatory ethanol-blended petrol policy and nationwide youth unemployment.

CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das affirmed that climate activist and education reformist Sonam Wangchuk will continue to serve as a mentor for the movement, with leadership actively seeking his guidance for upcoming campaigns. Das highlighted that a immediate priority for the organization involves securing the formal withdrawal of First Information Reports registered against student protesters who participated in recent agitations against competitive examination paper leaks and systemic recruitment irregularities. He confirmed that CJP representatives are currently engaged in discussions with government officials to ensure police cases against student activists are dropped, while also coordinating legal assistance and medical support for those injured during law enforcement crackdowns across various cities.

The youth-led movement gained national prominence after Dipke returned to India from the United States in June to spearhead student demonstrations at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar following irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. The sustained protests, which mobilised millions of young citizens across digital platforms and urban centres, ultimately resulted in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. As the movement expands its national outreach beyond education reforms, CJP leadership emphasized that it will remain a non-electoral public platform dedicated to systemic accountability, youth advocacy, and constitutional rights.
