Ferozepur: In a significant success against illegal arms smuggling, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit in Ferozepur has dismantled a cross-border weapons trafficking network and arrested one suspect during the operation. Officials recovered five .30 bore Glock pistols along with four live cartridges from the accused.
According to preliminary findings, the seized firearms are suspected to have been smuggled into India through illegal cross-border routes. Investigators believe the weapons were meant to be circulated further through a larger criminal network operating in the region.
Police officials said the arrest marks an important lead in cracking down on organised arms trafficking activities linked to cross-border smuggling channels. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway to trace both the source of the weapons and the intended recipients.
Authorities are also working to identify other individuals connected to the network and establish its wider operational links. The probe is expected to reveal crucial details regarding the supply chain and possible local handlers involved in the racket.
Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to taking strict action against illegal arms smuggling and maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against activities that threaten public safety and national security. Officials affirmed that sustained operations will continue to curb cross-border criminal networks and ensure law enforcement remains vigilant against such threats.
