Dehradun: Five people were injured after a car veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Lalpul, ahead of Sahia in Uttarakhand, early on Friday.
The accident came to light in the morning, following which the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was alerted about several occupants being trapped inside the vehicle.
SDRF Launches Rescue Operation
Acting swiftly on the information, an SDRF team from Chakrata was sent to the accident site.
On reaching the location, rescuers found the vehicle lying approximately 35 metres below the road. Five people—three men and two women—were inside the car when it plunged into the gorge.

Two of the occupants had suffered serious injuries, while the remaining three sustained comparatively minor injuries.
All Five Occupants Evacuated Safely
Working alongside the local police, the SDRF personnel descended into the gorge and reached the damaged vehicle.
The rescue team carefully brought all five injured occupants back to the roadside. Given the difficult terrain and depth of the gorge, the operation required coordinated efforts from the rescuers and police personnel.
After being pulled out of the gorge, the injured were handed over for medical assistance.
Injured Taken to Hospital
Ambulances subsequently transported all five victims to a hospital, where they were admitted for treatment.
The exact circumstances that caused the car to leave the road and plunge into the gorge were not immediately clear. Authorities are expected to establish the cause as part of the investigation.
The timely response by the SDRF team ensured that all five occupants were rescued from the difficult terrain and moved to medical care.
