New Delhi: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday extended her congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he marked a historic milestone, becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Meloni praised Modi’s leadership and noted the significance of his 12-year tenure at the helm of the Indian government.
Referring to recent diplomatic engagement between the two leaders, she highlighted their meeting in Rome and the launch of a “Special Strategic Partnership” aimed at expanding cooperation between India and Italy. According to her post, the initiative is intended to open new avenues of collaboration and strengthen ties between the two nations and their people.
Her message placed emphasis on shared ambitions for the future, underscoring the importance of building stronger economic and strategic relations as both countries look to deepen engagement in multiple sectors.

European Council President António Costa also extended his greetings to the Indian Prime Minister, describing the relationship between the European Union and India as stronger than ever under Modi’s leadership. He referred to recent high-level engagements, including a major summit held earlier this year, as evidence of deepening cooperation.
Costa further expressed optimism about continued collaboration between the two sides, noting that the partnership between the EU and India remains an important pillar of global diplomatic engagement.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi completed 12 years in office as the head of the Central Government, a tenure that has now made him the longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
