New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly cheating Indian citizens through a fake recruitment website that impersonated the Russian Embassy and offered employment opportunities in Russia. A court has remanded the accused, Aman Kumar, to police custody until October 30.

The case came to light after the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India reportedly received 17 complaints from Indian citizens who alleged they had been defrauded through the website, www.embassytest.com, and a LinkedIn account allegedly posing as the embassy.

Following the complaints, the embassy lodged a First Information Report (FIR), prompting an investigation by the Cyber Cell of New Delhi district. A senior police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed Kumar’s arrest.

Payment Trail Linked to Website

During the investigation, police traced payment transactions associated with a merchant identified as EMBASSYTEST. The payment infrastructure was reportedly linked to Stripe Payments and PayPal.

Investigators identified Kumar as the alleged operator of the fraudulent recruitment operation. He is suspected of having run the operation from the United Kingdom.

According to immigration records cited by investigators, Kumar travelled to the UK in December 2025 and returned to India on October 11, 2026.

Police have recovered two mobile phones that allegedly contain evidence linked to the operation. According to a senior police official, the devices contain information relating to the website domain, payment applications, Gmail accounts, LinkedIn correspondence and WhatsApp conversations concerning website development and payments.

Police Probe Financial Transactions and Possible Associates

Investigators are now examining whether other people were involved in the alleged fraud and are working to establish the complete financial trail.

The probe includes around 50 transactions, the operation of the website and the identities of other individuals suspected of participating in the scheme.

Police are also examining digital communications and payment-related records recovered during the investigation to determine how the alleged operation functioned and whether additional people were involved.

The case remains under investigation. The allegations against Kumar have not been established in court.
