Donald Trump Claims US Secured Strait of Hormuz, Says Over 100 Million Barrels of Oil Moved Safely

Washington: US President Donald Trump has asserted that the United States successfully ensured the safe passage of commercial shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz after authorising a confidential military operation aimed at protecting global energy supplies.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump said the mission, launched last month, was designed to safeguard oil tankers and commercial vessels navigating the waterway amid heightened regional tensions. According to him, the operation enabled the transportation of more than 100 million barrels of oil into international markets.

The US President further claimed that over 200 commercial ships had crossed the Strait without incident during the operation, describing the effort as a major strategic success for Washington and its military forces.

Emphasising the significance of the mission, Trump stated that the United States now effectively controls security in the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing Iran’s influence over the critical maritime route. He also alleged that Iran’s military capabilities had been significantly weakened and that its economy was in decline.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping corridors, carrying a substantial share of global crude oil exports. Any disruption in the region has the potential to impact international energy markets and global trade.

Trump’s remarks come against the backdrop of continuing geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region, where maritime security and energy transportation have remained key concerns for the international community. While his statement projects confidence in the success of the operation, there has been no immediate independent verification of the figures or claims made regarding US control over the strategic waterway.
