New Delhi: India enjoyed a memorable day at the 2026 Asian Games, adding a gold medal in women’s kabaddi along with silver medals in shooting and athletics.
The Indian women’s kabaddi team secured the gold medal after a strong campaign, delivering another major success for the country in a sport where India has traditionally been a dominant force.
Shooting also brought a silver medal as Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey finished second in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event. India recorded a combined score of 1763. China took gold with a Games-record 1773, while Kazakhstan claimed bronze with 1754.
The individual qualification produced further positives for the Indian shooting contingent. Ashi and Tilottama both finished among the leading competitors with scores of 395, earning places in the individual final. Vidarsa also put together a strong performance, recovering to finish sixth with a total of 588.
The athletics arena witnessed another historic moment for India as Sawan Barwal won silver in the men’s marathon. His performance brought an end to India’s 44-year wait for a medal in the Asian Games marathon.
Barwal’s achievement marked India’s first marathon medal at the continental event since the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi. His silver added another significant milestone to India’s athletics campaign in Nagoya.
With a kabaddi gold and silver medals in shooting and marathon, Day 7 proved to be a productive outing for the Indian contingent at the 2026 Asian Games.
