New Delhi: India added another medal to its Asian Games 2026 shooting tally as Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured bronze in the mixed team skeet event in Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday.
The Indian pair finished third in the final with a score of 44. They maintained a consistent run through the six series, progressing from seven points in the opening series to 14, 21, 29, 36 and finally 44.
Naruka and Dhaliwal had entered the medal round after finishing fourth in qualification with an aggregate score of 138, taking the final available qualification spot.
The bronze took India’s shooting medal tally at the ongoing Asian Games to eight, comprising four silver and four bronze medals.
India Adds More Medals In Shooting And Rowing
Earlier, India’s men’s and women’s skeet teams also claimed bronze medals at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery.
India also celebrated a historic rowing achievement as Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men’s double sculls. Their third-place finish marked India’s first-ever medal in the men’s double sculls event at the Asian Games.
The Indian duo clocked 6:13.25 in the final. China won gold in 6:09.37, while Uzbekistan took silver with a timing of 6:10.49.
Satnam Singh, who had previously won a bronze in the men’s quadruple sculls at the Hangzhou Asian Games, added another continental medal to his collection.
India Defeats Korea 8-2 In Men’s Hockey
India’s men’s hockey team continued its strong campaign in Nagoya with an 8-2 victory over South Korea.
Dilpreet Singh scored a hat-trick as India registered its third straight win in the competition. The result kept India at the top of Pool A and strengthened its position ahead of the knockout stage.
India had earlier recorded dominant victories over Indonesia and Sri Lanka in its opening matches.
Mixed 4x400m Relay Team Reaches Final
India also qualified for the mixed 4x400m relay final after finishing second in Heat 2.
The quartet of TS Manu, MR Povamma, Jay Kumar and Kiran clocked 3:16.23. China finished first in the heat, while India recorded the fourth-fastest overall qualifying time.
The eight-team final is scheduled to take place later on Thursday.
Roshibina Devi Wins Silver In Wushu
Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi also added a silver medal to India’s tally after finishing runner-up in the women’s 60kg sanda final.
Roshibina lost 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu. The medal marks her third Asian Games podium finish after winning bronze in 2018 and silver in 2023.
Paritosh Reaches Esports Quarterfinals
India’s esports campaign also remained alive after debutant Paritosh advanced to the quarterfinals of the Puyo Puyo Champions event.
He finished third in Group B with two wins and two losses. Paritosh defeated Mongolia’s Munkhzorig Ganbold 3-0 and Singapore’s Koh Mun June Justin 3-2 before suffering defeats against Chinese Taipei and Thailand.
The top three players from the group progressed to the next stage.
India also saw mixed results across boxing, canoe sprint, swimming, table tennis and squash as the Asian Games continued in Nagoya.
