Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court is set to receive a significant boost in its judicial strength as the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended ten new names for appointment as judges. This move is expected to considerably accelerate the judicial process and reduce the backlog of cases in the region. The Collegium has forwarded these recommendations to the federal government for final approval, marking a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and ensure the timely delivery of justice.
Among the prominent names recommended from Haryana is Parvinder Singh Chauhan, who currently serves as the Advocate General of the province. Joining him on the list of recommendations are Rajesh Gaur and Mindar Jit Yadav. Once these appointments receive the formal approval of the President of India, official orders for their induction as High Court judges are expected to be issued shortly, allowing them to assume their new responsibilities on the bench.
The list of recommended advocates also includes Monica Chhibber Sharma, Harmeet Singh Deol, Pooja Chopra, Sunish Bindlish, Navdeep Singh, Divya Sharma, and Ravinder Malik. Each of these legal professionals brings a wealth of experience to the judiciary. Notably, Navdeep Singh is recognized as a leading expert in military law and is also a distinguished author and former officer in the Territorial Army. His inclusion highlights the diverse legal expertise being brought into the High Court’s fold to handle complex legal matters.
