Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has cautioned citizens against fraudulent individuals and illegal camps collecting personal documents such as Aadhaar cards, voter cards, and PAN cards under false pretenses.

According to officials, several complaints have been received in the past 24 hours, alleging that certain individuals, claiming to be affiliated with a political party, are luring locals by promising jobs under government schemes and collecting sensitive personal data. Some complaints also state that people were asked to share their bank account details, which were later misused to siphon money.

Police further said that such individuals were also found charging commission from residents for getting government-related work done, while falsely claiming political connections.

The spokesperson urged people to only use government-run Seva Kendras for all official work and strictly avoid giving commissions or personal data to unauthorized persons. โ€œAll such complaints are under investigation, and strict action will be taken as per law,โ€ the spokesperson assured.

Citizens have been asked to remain alert, avoid sharing sensitive information, and immediately report any illegal camps or suspicious activities to the police.
