Patiala: The flood threat along the Ghaggar River, which flows through the Punjab-Haryana border, has intensified as water levels continue to rise. Within the past 24 hours, the river has recorded an increase of about 4 to 5 inches.
Officials stationed at the Ghaggar bridge in Harchandpura — Block Development and Panchayat Officer Gurmeet Singh and Panchayat Officer Jatinder Singh — confirmed the rise. They stated that while the river remains safe on the Punjab side for now, in several areas the water has started swelling, raising concerns among residents.
Moderate rainfall has been continuing in the region since morning, adding to the apprehension that the river may swell further. The local administration has been monitoring the situation closely and is prepared to respond if the water level increases further.
