Uttar Pradesh: Several prominent temples across Uttar Pradesh, including the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, and the Vindhyavasini temple, were closed on Tuesday in observance of the lunar eclipse. The temples are scheduled to reopen later in the evening after the completion of rituals.

Authorities at Kashi Vishwanath temple said the eclipse will be visible across India between 3.27 pm and 6.47 pm. In line with Hindu tradition, temples observed ‘Sutak Kaal,’ the inauspicious period that occurs before and during the eclipse, during which normal rituals and darshan are suspended.

Devotees were asked to adhere to the guidelines and participate in temple activities only after the eclipse period concludes. Temple officials confirmed that regular services, including aarti and bhajan, will resume once the auspicious time returns in the evening.

The closures reflect longstanding religious customs associated with celestial events, emphasizing the continued significance of astronomical phenomena in spiritual practices across the state.
