Hathras: At least six people lost their lives and six others sustained injuries after a double-decker sleeper bus rammed into a passenger van on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district early Tuesday morning, police officials confirmed.

The collision occurred around 4:20 am within the jurisdiction of the Sadabad police station area. According to authorities, the van was carrying 13 passengers and was en route from Prem Nagar in Delhi to Dholpur in Rajasthan when it was struck from behind.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ram Anand Kushwaha said the sleeper coach, travelling from Noida to Gorakhpur, collided with the van with considerable force, leading to severe damage to the smaller vehicle. Three women were among those killed in the accident.

Emergency responders and local police rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information about the crash. The injured were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while efforts were made to clear the roadway and restore traffic flow on the busy expressway.

Preliminary investigations suggest that poor visibility in the early hours and possible speeding may have contributed to the incident, though officials said a detailed inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause.

The Yamuna Expressway, a major arterial route connecting Delhi to Agra, has witnessed several serious accidents in recent years, prompting repeated calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and enhanced road safety measures.
