Mohali: Residents of Mohali district have been urged to take full advantage of the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme as the final deadline of August 31 approaches. To facilitate taxpayers, all municipal council offices in the district will remain open this Saturday and Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal shared that the scheme offers citizens a golden chance to clear pending property tax dues without facing any penalty or interest. She warned that from September 1 onwards, recovery would be enforced with additional charges.

Since the launch of the scheme on July 1, municipal councils in Mohali district have collected ₹25.46 crore. Zirakpur led with the highest collection of ₹15.74 crore, followed by Kharar at ₹4.40 crore and Dera Bassi at ₹2.47 crore. Other collections included Lalru (₹1.07 crore), Kurali (₹70 lakh), Nayagaon (₹60.78 lakh), and Banur (₹46.22 lakh).

Mittal said the encouraging public response highlights citizens’ role in strengthening urban local bodies. She added that increased revenue will help municipal councils improve civic amenities and accelerate urban development projects across the district.
