Balasore (Odisha): Three wagons of a goods train derailed at Rupsa station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, disrupting rail movement on the Bhadrak–Kharagpur section of the South Eastern Railway (SER), officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The derailment occurred at around 10 am when the goods train was departing Rupsa station after unloading cement and fertilisers. Railway officials said three wagons jumped off the track as the train was moving towards Kharagpur.

Following the incident, rail services for trains passing through Rupsa station near Jaleswar were affected. Restoration work was immediately taken up by railway teams, and the derailed wagons were brought back onto the track.

Railway authorities said train services were resumed after the completion of restoration work. The Kharagpur division of the South Eastern Railway has ordered an investigation to ascertain the cause of the derailment.
