New Delhi: Prominent activist Sonam Wangchuk and his wife Gitanjali Angmo praised India’s youth on Saturday following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling the outcome a significant victory for peaceful democratic action. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Angmo commended the young demonstrators led by the Cockroach Janta Party for demonstrating courage, patience, and non-violence while demanding accountability over national examination paper leaks.
Angmo highlighted that the younger generation exemplified core cultural and constitutional values by standing firmly against injustice without resorting to destruction. She noted that youth protesters demonstrated what true patriotism entails by pairing strength with peace and avoiding blind obedience. In her message, she suggested that political establishments could learn valuable lessons from young citizens about constructive dialogue, peaceful mobilization, and national responsibility.
Meanwhile, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who actively supported the student movement at Jantar Mantar, described the minister’s exit as a victory for direct democracy achieved through peace, patience, and perseverance. Congratulating CJP leaders and young activists across the country, Wangchuk emphasized that the movement must now pivot from demanding individual executive accountability to advocating for long-term structural examination and administrative reforms to safeguard students’ futures.
