Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi was absent from the Congress Working Committee meeting held at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday due to an upcoming academic commitment. The former chief minister was preparing for his Master of Arts examination in Public Administration scheduled for Thursday.
Channi is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme in Public Administration at Panjab University and is actively sitting for his scheduled semester tests. His decision to prioritise his academic obligations led to his absence from the high-profile gathering of top Congress leadership.
The meeting of the party’s highest decision-making body saw the participation of prominent national figures, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The session was convened to deliberate on vital organisational strategies and assess the prevailing political landscape across various states.
