New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said the Centre has strengthened security and confidentiality measures for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) scheduled for June 21, assuring students and parents that every stage of the examination process is being closely monitored.
Pradhan visited the headquarters of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in New Delhi to review preparations for the nationwide medical entrance examination. During the visit, he assessed the arrangements being made to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the test.
Addressing reporters, the minister said the government has implemented stringent safeguards to maintain complete confidentiality throughout the examination process, beginning with the preparation of question papers and extending to their transportation and distribution at examination centres.
He said every department involved in conducting the examination has been assigned specific responsibilities and additional precautions have been taken this year to prevent any lapses. According to Pradhan, several high-level review meetings have already been held under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary to coordinate efforts among various departments.
The minister said the NTA is working closely with state governments and local administrations to ensure seamless execution of the examination. He added that the agency’s Director General is personally interacting with district collectors across the country to review preparedness and identify areas requiring special attention.
Pradhan also spoke about the ongoing investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak case. He said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is continuing its probe and examining the circumstances under which irregularities occurred.
Expressing confidence in the agency’s work, the minister said the government expects a thorough investigation and has sought the strictest possible action against those found responsible for any wrongdoing.
The Centre’s assurances come amid heightened scrutiny of competitive examinations following allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities in recent years. Authorities have maintained that ensuring transparency, security and fairness in NEET remains a top priority.
