New Delhi — The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi confirmed on Thursday that BJP parliamentarian Raghav Chadha’s name has been included in the electoral roll for Assembly Constituency-39, Rajinder Nagar, following all mandatory statutory procedures.
Election officials clarified that Chadha formally submitted an application for the inclusion of his name via Form-6 on August 26. Following the conclusion of the mandatory seven-day public notice period without valid impediments, the Electoral Registration Officer approved the entry on September 2. The CEO’s office noted that under Election Commission of India guidelines, once an enrollment request is formally approved, the voter’s details are immediately incorporated into the database at the end of the draft roll’s serial order, ahead of the final publication of revised rolls.
The confirmation comes against the backdrop of an escalating dispute between Chadha and his former political outfit, the Aam Aadmi Party. Chadha previously alleged that his voter status in Punjab had been deliberately altered, stating his name was incorrectly classified as “shifted” in the draft rolls of Mohali despite his standing as an elected Rajya Sabha member from the state. He characterized the move as an act of political vendetta orchestrated by the AAP-led Punjab administration.
Hitting back at the AAP leadership over allegations surrounding his voter transfer, Chadha dismissed the claims as baseless rhetoric. He stated that he adhered strictly to all regulatory frameworks established by the Election Commission of India and accused his former party of conflating official electoral rolls with internal party registers to target leaders who have parted ways with the organisation.
