Haryana Announces Winter Break for All Schools from January 1 to 15, 2026

Chandigarh: The Haryana government’s School Education Directorate has announced winter vacations for all government and private schools across the state, citing student health and safety amid the cold weather.

According to official orders, all schools in Haryana will remain closed for winter holidays from January 1, 2026, to January 15, 2026. Schools will reopen and resume regular classes on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The School Education Directorate, Panchkula, has issued detailed instructions to all District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers, Block Education Officers, Block Elementary Education Officers, and school heads or in-charges to ensure strict compliance with the holiday schedule.

The Directorate has also clarified that during the winter break, students of Classes 10 and 12 may be called to schools for practical examinations, if required. Such practical exams will be conducted strictly as per the timetable and guidelines prescribed by boards such as CBSE, ICSE, and other relevant education boards. This provision will apply only to board examination classes.

Officials stated that the decision was taken keeping in view the prevailing winter conditions, with the aim of prioritising the health and safety of students. The order has been issued by the Secondary Education Director, Haryana, through the Assistant Director (Academic).
