Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has intensified its decisive campaign against drug abuse, resulting in the arrest of more than 67,000 drug smugglers till date. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan shared this information today while affirming a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. He asserted that individuals involved in the supply of illegal substances will face strict legal action.
The Speaker emphasized that societal contribution is paramount to completely root out the menace of addiction. He appealed to the public to act as responsible citizens and share information regarding drug peddling with the police.Citizens must report any suspicious drug-related activities to law enforcement immediately. The police department will handle informant details with strict confidentiality. Eradicating addiction requires active participation between the government and the community.
He urged parents to be highly vigilant and supportive during their children’s developmental years. Parents must spend quality time with children to keep them away from bad habits.Youth should adopt sports into their daily lifestyles to foster physical wellness.The younger generation must channel their energy into academics and winning sports medals.
The Speaker Sandhwan stressed that our government assumed office with a solemn resolution to eliminate drugs menance. The ongoing state-wide campaign has successfully choked major supply lines and prevented countless youth from falling prey to drug abuse.
