Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh, land is not merely a source of livelihood; it is also the foundation of social security, economic stability and ancestral heritage. In rural areas of the state, revenue services such as Jamabandi (land records), mutation, demarcation and partition are closely linked to the everyday lives of people.
It is due to the able and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the sustained efforts of the state government that the Revenue Department has made remarkable progress over the past four years in adopting information technology, digitising land records, introducing online procedures in revenue courts and making digital documents easily accessible to the public. Platforms such as e-HimBhoomi, the Revenue Management System (RMS), RCCMS, the Bhu-Naksha Portal and the My Deed Portal have brought about a significant transformation in the department’s functioning.
The objective of these initiatives is not just to introduce technology into government offices, but also to save citizens from repeated visits to offices and ensure that land records are accurate, up to date and easily accessible.
To ensure the speedy disposal of revenue cases, monthly Lok Adalats are being organised towards the end of every month. Cases relating to land partition, demarcation, correction of revenue entries and encroachments are being given priority. The initiative aims to reduce the backlog of pending cases and spare citizens from unnecessary delays.
